Virginia Heights and Wasena Elementary Schools participated in Clean Valley’s Stream School program by catching and identifying aquatic insects and fish at Smith Mountain Lake. Students also performed chemical tests on the water for temperature, turbidity, pH and dissolved oxygen, to learn what factors affect the quality of our local watersheds. The students were hosted by the Virginia Inland Sail Association for a half day of outdoor class participation. What a wonderful way to learn about our Roanoke River Watershed!
