Wasena Seedlings School Garden

 

Wasena Elementary had dirt and sunlight and students eager to learn to grow vegetables. So last spring a handful of parent volunteers worked alongside a handful of kids to dig four garden plots and grow everything from greens to garlic. This spring, dozens of school kids have signed on to be Wasena Seedlings. The Seedlings are doubling their gardening space and will meet throughout the spring to plant and harvest lettuce, arugula, spinach, strawberries, potatoes, carrots radishes and more! Though just a seedling itself, the garden is already bearing food -- and fun.
