Meet Heather Butler
Heather Butler earned her Bachelor of Science in Forest Resource Management at Virginia Tech and a Master of Science in Forest Resources at Penn State University. She has work experience managing company-owned timberlands as well as helping private landowners manage their timber for wildlife habitat and timber production. Her experience in environmental consulting involved conducting threatened and endangered species surveys, environmental site assessments, and wetland delineations.
Ms. Butler made a career switch to teaching in 2006 and is now the program head for both the Associate of Science in Science and the Associate of Science in Integrated Environmental Studies programs at Virginia Western Community College. She also directs the Bee Campus Program, which promotes a pollinator-friendly landscape on Virginia Western’s campus.
Planting for Pollinators
Pollinators are necessary to maintain our food supply, clothing and textiles, building materials, and so much more! In this workshop, students will learn about the importance of native pollinators as well as best practices for providing safe and healthy habitats for pollinators in their neighborhoods and surrounding community.
